Abstract


-Abstract-
This study was performed for the purpose of investigation the effect of group A,B
tooth-paste slurries on dental plaque index and caries activity by means of Cariostat
test. Group A consists of silica, sodium fluoride(NaF), ursodeoxycholic(UDCA), triclosan
and ulmi cortex extract. Group B consists of dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, sodium
monofluorophosphate(SMFP), UDCA, bamboo salt, phellodendri cortex extract and
platycodia radix extract.
14 subjects were selected and performed scaling three times just before the experimental
period. Subjects did only mouth-rinsing with tooth-paste slurry during
non-toothbrushing period, 14 days.
The obtained results were as follows:
1.Group A was higher than Group B in the restraining effect of the reattachment of
dental plaque.
2. Group B is higher than Group A in Cariostat scores.
3. The reattachment of dental plaque in Group A, B, increased remarkably during
non-toothbrushing period.
4. Dental plaque index was in proportion to Cariostat scores.
